Willie Jean Anderson Johnson, age 89 made her transition to heaven on January 19, 2022. She was born May 6, 1932, to Gideon and Lassie Eve (Austin)Anderson.
She was a graduate of College Hill High School in Cleveland, TN. Willie Jean always exuded style and sophistication. She was an avid reader of medical journals and any book to gain knowledge. She was a collector of antiques, and most Saturdays music of all kinds filled her house. She was an active member of the Joy Fellowship and associated with the Fellowship of Praise Church of God. While living in Cleveland, Ohio, Willie Jean was one of the first African American Women’s Division Buyers for Higbee’s Department Store and later sold Women’s Apparel for Bee-Line Clothes. When she moved back home to Cleveland, TN she worked over 40 years as a House Manager for John and Jean Meiler and Sherry Brown.
She was preceded in death by sisters Francis Anderson Delancey, Lula Mae (Zadok), Westfield, Jeanette (Lincoln) Goldston, LaSalle (Andrew) Shropshire, Mary Ruth Anderson, Melissa Anderson, and brothers Lucian Anderson, Gideon Anderson, David Anderson, and Denver Anderson. In-Laws Frank and Viola Johnson.
She leaves her children, Bobby (Beverly) Johnson of Toledo, OH, Darrell (Rosemary) Johnson of Cleveland, TN, and daughter Angela Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN, along with six grandsons, Bobby Jr, Brennen, Darrell Jr., Darnell, Antonio, and Kendrick and siblings Evelyn Anderson King, Hazel Anderson Ramsey, Mattie Jean Anderson Roberts, and Emmanuel Anderson and Brother-in-Law Harry (Lyn) Johnson. She also will be missed by her ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home-Cleveland, TN Interment will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, TN. In compliance with COVID-19, social distancing will be observed and face mask are required. There will be a walk- through visitation one hour prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
