William Perry “Jake” Sanders , 64 of Johnson City, TN originally from “Parkstown”, TN, passed away April 15, 2020. In a veteran’s hospital in Johnson City, TN. Jake was the son of the late Oliver and Alva Sanders and was preceded in death by brother, Eric and sister, Paula Sanders.

Jake was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and continued to serve his military veterans as an employee of the Veterans Administration hospital in Johnson City, TN. His military training prepared him to face and overcome many obstacles that came during his life’s journey. Jake was a charming friendly and caring person with a heart of gold and a smile that brightened your day. He was devoted to his family and friends, and they knew he was always there for them all.

He leaves to cherish his memory, children: Travis (Whitney) Sanders, Darren (Amanda) Sanders, Dre Sanders, and Leland Sanders. Sisters, Karen Sanders and Andrea (Omar) Green. Brothers, Brian ‘Butch’ Sanders and Allen Sanders. Grandchildren, Terrlyn Thomas, Travis Thomas, Amani Sanders, Deion Sanders, Kazz Sanders, and Kamarley Sanders. Great grandchildren, Nalani and Nalea, and a host of family and friends.

The visitation and funeral for William Perry Sanders will be immediate family only.

Visitation will be held at M.D. Dotson  & Sons Funeral Home in Athens, TN on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 10:00. Rev. Kevin Harris will officiate. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
