Vickie L. Roby

Vickie LaDonna Rice Roby , age 60, passed away on July 22, 2020 in Athens, TN. Vickie was born in Atlanta, GA to parents Joseph Rice and Jessie Talley Rice. The Rice family later moved to Southern California where Vickie attended Lynwood High School. With some college under her belt, she decided move to Athens, Tennessee with her two young daughters where she retired from McMinn County High School as sanitation worker. She was loved and known as “Ms. Vickie” to many young and old because of her great personality and no stranger attitude.

Vickie preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Jessie (Jackie) Rice.

She leaves behind a husband Jessie Roby , two daughters, Donna Smith , Verika Hatcher, grandchildren Adarah Arnwine and Damon Arnwine Jr; a sister Jacqueline Rice, brothers Bruce Rice, Rodney (Celeste) Rice , Jonathan (Teresa) Rice, Joseph Stanley (Yvonne) Rice and Michael Rice; brother-in-laws Roosevelt (Teresa) Roby, sisters-in-laws Hattie-Mea (Willie) Hatley and Dorothy Rea Roby and many nieces and nephews. Also want to recognize her best friends Lisa Mayes and Betty Nesmith who loved and cared her like a second sister.

Funeral service for Vickie will be held at MD Dotson and Sons funeral home on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 to 1:00. The Rev. Vant Hardaway will officiating. All flowers can be sent to MD Dotson and Sons Funeral Home, 502 Congress Pkwy N, Athens, TN 37303. Following the service, burial will be held at Hammond Cemetery.
