Vetta Ann Thompson age 69 a life-long resident of Cleveland, TN. was granted angel wings on April 5, 2017. She attended Norman Chapel grade school and College Hill High School in Bradley County/Cleveland, TN. She was a member of the Church of God Sanctified on First Street in Cleveland, TN.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, the late Calvin and Sammie Retta Thompson, grandmothers, Zenovia Thompson and Louise Craigmiles, sisters, Jacqueline Humes, Phyllis Thompson and Christine Thompson-Miller, aunts, Wilma Blair, Catherine Craigmiles, and uncle John Craigmiles, cousins, Elaine Hackett, Larry Wayne Craigmiles, and James’Jib’ Taylor.
Vetta was born in Cleveland, TN on August 8, 1947. She was employed with Magic Chef and Royal Health Care in Cleveland for many years before retiring.
She is survived by her two sons, Rodney Craig (Malerie) Thompson of Chattanooga, TN., and Milo Ware Jr. of Washington, DC, two grandchildren, Craig and Monica Thompson of Chattanooga, TN., and one great- grandchild. Nakyah Thompson, sisters, Marqrette(Johnny) Ramsey of Cleveland. Three brothers, Calvin(Susan) Thompson Jr., Ricky S. Thompson, and Robert Thompson all of Cleveland, TN. Aunts, Rebecca Ann (Richard) Powell of Cleveland; uncle Fred Craigmiles of Chicago, Ill., and life-long friend, Wayne Stovall of Cleveland, TN. and best friends Regina White of Cleveland, TN.
Vetta loved life. She enjoyed hair makeovers and dressing up. She was an avid softball player. She was a pitcher for various teams in the Cleveland, and Chattanooga area. Her smile and laughter will forever be missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.
Services of loving memory will be conducted by M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Cleveland, TN. on Thursday, April 13, 2017, 3:00 p.m. at Church of God Sanctified with Bishop G.R. Hill delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Fort Hill Cemetery.
