Vernon Harris

Vernon ‘Bernie’ Robert Harris Sr. age 64 died Thursday, October 19, 2017 in a Chattanooga hospital. Originally from Philadelphia, Pa., he was a well-known musician in the local Cleveland -Chattanooga area. He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church both in Cleveland, TN., where he blended his musical talent in praise and worship. He was employed for twenty-six years with Salter Candy Company in Chattanooga, TN., as a truck driver. He served his country in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his four sons, Vernon Robert Harris Jr., Cenneca Harris, Chavell Harris, and Chevez Harris all of Chattanooga, TN. One sister, Serena Harris of Cleveland, TN., and two brothers, Nordine Harris, and James Harris both of Philadelphia, Pa.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Edward S. Robinson delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
