Vera Witt

Vera Elizabeth Witt age 92 a native and lifelong resident of Athens, Tennessee passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her home. She was of the Church of God faith, and was currently attending Calvary Tabernacle. She was a former employee of Athens Furniture Company.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Edna Arnwine Cox. three sisters, Helen Cates, Joyce Cox-Dunn, and Mary Ann Bradley. One brother Joe Cox, husband Charles L. Witt, and son Glen E. Witt.

Vera leaves to cherish her memory, four loving daughters, Veralynn Jones, Elizabeth Witt, and Teresa Witt of Atlanta, Ga., and Janet R. King of Sweetwater, TN. One son, Ronald (Betty) Witt of Nashville, TN. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Special goddaughter, Marla Cobb of Athens, TN.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens, with minister Walter King officiating and Rev. Vant Hardaway delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Hammonds Cemetery in Athens, TN. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 1:00 p.m.until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation by friends will begin after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens, TN.
