Valerie  Anita Morris age 66 went home to be with the Lord and her Savior surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday October 28, 2021. She was a member of  Everlasting Life Christian Center in Etowah, TN., where she was diligent  in her duties, serving on the usher board.

She was a graduate of McMinn Central High School, class of 1973. She attended Cleveland State community college, and received her B.A. degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College in secondary education.

Valerie enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She worked for Walmart for over  ten years. She was an active volunteer with the foster grandparents of Chattanooga, TN.

She is preceded in death by her father, George McDermott, aunts, Rosa Mae Bradford, Evelyn Parris, Lois McCroskey, Marie Hall, Dalie Wiley, Henretta McDermott, and uncles, Benjamin, Abraham, Callaway, Osborne, James, John, Rex, and Anderson McDermott. Brothers-in-law, Billy Gaines, and Nathaniel Roberts.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Rev. Wayne L. Morris, three devoted daughters, Lanita (Rodney) Robinson of Athens, TN., Faith(Kenneth) Corburn and Candace Morris all of Etowah, TN. Grandchildren, Jasmine Morris, Destiny, Derek, Desiree, DeAndre, and Bentley. Mother, Sue Moss Prater of Athens, TN., one sister, Connie McDermott ( Sedrick Scarver ), two brother, Alvin McDermott of Lascass, TN., and Dale McDermott of Perduca, Ky. Two aunts,  Lorraine Walker, and Willie Jean McCroskey both of Etowah, TN., one uncle Paul McDermott of Detroit, MI. Two brothers-in-law, James MacArthur(Olivia) Morris of South Carolina, and Damon Morris of Athens, TN. Three sisters-in-law, Lillian Gaines of Athens,TN., Dolina Roberts of Sweetwater, TN., and Christina(John) Mitchell of Nashville, TN. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Home going Celebration for Valerie Morris will be Monday, November 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Everlasting Life Christian Center with pastor, Rev. Kevin Harris delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. in compliance with COVID-19 the family request also that mask be worn and social distancing be observed, Interment will follow the service at New Zion Cemetery in Etowah, TN.

M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home will continue to be in compliance with  COVID-19, mask are required at all times, and we will monitor for social distancing .
