David Troy Harrison , age 32 of Etowah, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at local hospital. He was an avid Tennessee VFL and loved his football games. Before he was even able to have a driver’s, license or own a car he was a faithful firefighter with the Etowah Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Etowah Rescue Squad. His life was devoted to helping others in all types of way. He gained tremendous work experience and knowledge about care and feelings for others through his time of employment at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home. He was a graduate of McMinn Central High School and was a member of Mount Olive AME Zion Church. He was employed at Etowah Utilities Board. He loved making others laugh and was loved and highly respected by so many people.
He was preceded in death by his father Warren Witt and grandmother, Rosalee Douglas.
He is survived by his loving mother Sandra Harrison and brother Jeremy Harrison both of Etowah, TN. Three aunts, Mary Frances Brown and Drucilla Jackson of Etowah, TN and Gloria Hammonds of Charleston, TN, uncles Johnny Harrison of Cleveland TN, Brian Witt and great uncle Burkett Witt both of Athens, TN. He is also survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, and cousins. His special friend Shelby Ward of Cleveland, TN and his extended family of the Etowah Fire and Rescue Squad District 4, Etowah Utilities, his close friends Zack Poteet, Hunter Peterson, and Robbie Ward and the owners and staff of Farmhouse Restaurant of Etowah, TN. Donations in honor of Troy can be made to the Etowah Rural Fire and Rescue Squad.
Funeral services will be held Sunday September 24, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at North Etowah Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Moore delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.. Interment will follow at New Zion Cemetery in Etowah, Tn.
Visitation by friends will begin after 4:00 p.m. Saturday at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, Tennessee.
