Thomas Leroy Olley, Jr.

Thomas Leroy Olley Jr. “Tommy” age 40 passed Monday, December 26, 2022 in a Sweetwater, TN hospital. He was born in San Francisco, CA but spent a great deal of his life in Brighton, TN and Tellico Plains, TN graduating from Tellico Plains High School class of 2000. Tommy was a first baseman, and member of the baseball team while in high school. He loved all sports and loved to play golf.

Tommy expressed his faith in Christ and made a commitment to Lord. He was a loving son, brother, husband and father. He enjoyed the fellowship of his many friends.

Tommy is preceded in death by his mother Roberta ‘ Birty ’ Patterson Olley , grandparents, Billie Jean Cheatham, Grace and Ronald Olley , Bob Patterson, cousin Jeremy Patterson, mother-in-law, Elizabeth Rogers, and sister-in-law, Shannon Blankenship.

He is survived by his wife Diana Moser Olley of Tellico Plains,three stepchildren, Blake, Kadin, and Sarahbeth , a sister, Megan (John) Neal of Dayton, Texas, father Thomas Olley Sr. (Jill Dodson) of Knoxville, TN. Grandfather, Bill Cheatham of Tellico Plains,TN . A unts, Diane Patterson and Coll e en Patterson both of Tellico Plains, TN., Tina(Robert) Davenport of Reliance, TN, Samantha(Daniel) Tallent of Etowah, TN, Kathy(Carl) Hites of Ripley, TN, Connie(Grady) Vaughn of Nashville, TN. , C l ara(Doug) Moses of Tellico Plains, TN, and Barbara Watkins of Calhoun, Ga . One uncle, Scott (Phyllis) of Bells, TN. Two great aunts, Linda Olley of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Karen Hockenbroch of Paxinos , PA. Sister-in-law, Megan( John) Hecker of Sweetwater, TN and father-in-law, James Gregory Moser of Tellico Plains, TN. Many special friends from his old school days and growing up, and a very special friend Walter E. Dotson of Athens, TN. Many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – 502 Congress Parkway, Athens, TN with minister Yancy Carringer officiating, The family will receive friends one hour before the service at funeral home, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Interment will be Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 2 pm in the family plot at Shady Grove Cemetery , 1710 Mecca Pike Tellico Plains, TN. 36385
