Sonny Arnwine

Lamous L. “Sunnye” Arnwine ,69, of Athens, TN, passed away November 24, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.

Sunnye graduated from McMinn High School in Athens, TN and went on to attend Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, TX and Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, TN. He served his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam Era and then again in the Army Reserve. He retired from Martin Marietta after 30 years of service. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Englewood, TN. Sunnye never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Christine Macon Arnwine, and his sister Patsy Gardner.

Sunnye is survived by his wife, of 46 years, Bertha Farmer Arnwine; children Sheldon (Sabrina) Arnwine and Natasha (William Jr) Leeth; grandchildren Blake (Rachel), Breanna, William III (Rebecca), Ellaine, and Alexander; great-grandchildren Aubreanna and William IV; sisters Willie Francis Bell, Charlene Butler and Lola (Rex) Allen and brothers Leito (Cindy) Arnwine and Alfonzo Arnwine; Aunts Etta Slay(Charles) and Estelle Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 12:00 pm at Central Church of Christ, 1060 New Englewood Rd., Englewood, TN 37329, with minister Scott Lovingood officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the service at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Internment will follow at McMinn Memory Gardens. Visitation by friends will begin Friday after 2:00 p.m. at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens TN.
