Sara Elizabeth Hill

Sara Elizabeth Young Hill, age 57 of Athens, Tennessee passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Saturday, November 25, 2023 surrounded by family and loved ones. She was a faithful, 25+ year member of Woodward Church of God in Athens, TN, where she served on staff as the Pre-school Director and Pastor and was a member of the praise team. She was a graduate of Lee University in Cleveland, TN where she earned her bachelor of science degree in Ministry Leadership with a counseling emphasis., and an associate degree from Cleveland, State Community College in Early Childhood Education and Teaching. She was employed as a Family Support Specialist at Nuture The Next Family Agency.

Many were touched by the Lord’s ministry through her. She faithfully walked hand in hand with him. With such conviction and reverence, she served willingly wherever she felt the Lord leading her. She deeply valued her relationships and gracefully carried the love of Christ. Although she could never love as vastly as He does, she came pretty close.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Moses Young Sr. and Gladys Simmons Young, three sisters, Bonnie Crawford, Edith Marlene Young, and Vicky Young, and two brothers, Moses Young Jr., Dennis Young Sr, sisters-in-law Mary Linda Hill as well as several others.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years Andrew Willie Hill, three daughters, Kaitlin Hill of Maryville, TN, and Lydia Hill of Athens, TN, and Jennifer Eschette (Kevin) of Decatur, TN. Brothers, Randall(Linda) Young of Trotwood, Ohio, Michael(Colette) Young of Germany, Jeffrey (Cathy) Young of Fresno, Calif. Sisters, Elaine Young of Springfield, Ohio, Mary Rose of Springfield, Ohio. Sisters-in-law Mary Lue Mitchell and Barbara Ferguson of Georgia and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Woodward Church of God with Minister Herschell Baker officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Interment will be Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Hammond Cemetery.
