Rubenia Moore

Rubenia Moore was the most loving spirit you could come in contact with. People gravitated to her for her loving mother nature, honesty, and respect. She was one of the strongest persons you could ever meet, and made an impact on everyone that she came across. She had a strong faith and relationship with God that allowed her to show love to everyone.

Rubenia had a love for children like no other, especially her own. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, and was always there. She worked hard to be a provider to her children and many others that she cared for along the way throughout her life. She was a homebody, who loved being with her family.

Rubenia welcomed everyone with open arms. She would cook for you and then offered you a place to lay your head if it was needed. Known as "Grandmother" to so many of the younger generation, as she showed them love, and taught them many things about life. She touched so many throughout her time here and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her youngest son, Ashley Moore, Jr., mother and father, Emma Sue and James McDermott, brothers William Roy, Ronnie, Steven, and James McDermott, Jr., and sister Lisa Newsom.

She is survived by her 3 children, William Rutledge, Rayven McDermott, and Sheila Moore, 6 grandchildren, Jaquarius and Arieana McDermott, Makailes and Ansley Moore, William Rutledge Jr., and Courtaneigh and Joshua McDermott, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, an aunt, 2 uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home-Athens, TN., with Rev. Vant Hardaway and Pastor Sherr Witt-Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 2:00pm.
