As the sun rose on September 24, 1950, Roma Yvonne Scotton, was born to the late Reverend Willie T. and Elsie M. Scotton, in Cleveland, TN. She transitioned to be with the Lord on June 1, 2024, at 2:10pm at WellStar Cobb Medical Hospital in Powder Springs, GA with her family by her side.

Roma was attending Church of Hope in Powder Springs, GA, until her transition, with pastor Ed and LeAnn Bechtel. They would often visit to pray with her and give her words of encouragement.

The love of her life was her family. She loved spending time with her two sons Brian and Brandon and their family, her grandson Nickolas and his family and her siblings. She had a very warm and inviting spirit and a beautiful infectious smile. She loved to help anyone in need and would open her home to all. Roma was one who never met a stranger.

Roma accepted Christ at an early age under her father’s ministry in the Church of God of Prophecy. She loved the Lord with all her heart and loved singing about His saving Grace. She comes from a family of singers and was a member of the Voicesettes while her father was the pastor at Blueridge Street Church of God of Prophecy in Dalton, GA.

Roma attended College Hill School and was an attendee on the Homecoming Court. She graduated in 1968 from Cleveland High School. She then went on to MTSU to study nursing.

She was the Event Coordinator for Aramark in Atlanta, GA until her retirement. While employed, she pursued a degree in Culinary Arts. She used her skills to start catering and baking. Roma along with her sisters Cynthia and Lavinia started S.E.E.D.S which was Scotton Event and Entertainment Designs Services. She had an eye for decorating weddings, baby showers, reunions, or whatever the event, you were not disappointed.

Roma was incredibly talented. She was an excellent cook and baker. She made the best Banana Nut and Zucchini bread! Reading, singing, and sewing were a few more of her passions. Sewing was one of the skills she learned while watching her mother, and she was an incredibly talented seamstress.

Precious family members who preceded her in death include: her parents Reverend Willie and Elsie Scotton, her daughter Nicole Scotton.
