Raymond Jackson, 91, of Etowah, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 26, 2017 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zeke and Etta Jackson, brothers, Zeke Jr., Ed Mayfield and son, Raymond Jackson Jr.
He was retired from B H Yerbey Concrete Construction, and served in the United States Coast Guard. Raymond was a member of the Boaz Masonic Lodge, and served as historian for American Legion Post 11, he was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church. He faithfully served his home church in many capacities including Deacon,Chairman of the Trustees,Member of the Lay Council, Sunday School Treasurer, member of the Usher Board, chief Maintenance Man and was an active member of the Mt. Olive Male Chorus. Raymond freely gave of his time and talents helping those in need. He mentored many in the community sharing his wisdom, knowledge and faith with anyone he befriended.

Raymond was well-known as one of the best concrete finishers in the area, where many businesses and homes display his handiwork. He not only poured foundations, he was a foundation, a local icon with a million-dollar smile.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife of 73 years, Juanita Jackson, and his brother, Benny Jackson. He was the rock of 5 generations of Jacksons having raised 9 children, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. His daughters are Annette Sharp, Vivian (Randy) Anderson, Sue Ellen Jackson, Teresa Jackson and Denise Jackson; and sons are; Joey (Trina), Gordon (Beth) and Dennis (Kim) Jackson. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Raymond’s rich and abundant life will be celebrated on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church in Etowah, Tennessee. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 3:00 PM. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, in Etowah, Tennessee immediately following the services
