Ora Lee Arnwine Scruggs, age 86, of Niota, TN passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at her Residence. She was born and raised in the Township of the Oak Grove Community in Niota, TN  and later, upon marriage to Eugene Lane Scruggs for 48 years, she settled into the Lanetown Community. In which she had a Hunger for God, left her mark, and was a friend to all. She professed Christ at an early age in life, and served in many capacities; such as a Headstart Teacher, Choir Instructor, Youth Leader, Singing Group Leader for the" Buds of Promise", Missionary Society, and was an Ordained Minister. She was a graduate of J.L. Cook High School in Athens, TN, and later, attended Tennessee A&I College, (later renamed Tennessee State), in Nashville, TN of which, she was an English & Early Education Major. She was a Daughter of the late George and Mae Arnwine, and was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lane Scruggs,  a son, Pastor Gregory A. Scruggs, Ten brothers, sisters, and their spouses: R.L. Arnwine, Billy Arnwine, Marshal (Dorothy) Arnwine, Roy (Lucille) Arnwine, Ulyss Arnwine, Marion Upton, Bobbie (Hattie) Arnwine, Rena V. Arnwine (Ivory) Adams, Essie Arnwine (Leon) Moore, Cleo (Virgil) Rice, and one brother-in-law, Shaddrack Moore.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, four daughters, two sons, three daughter in-laws, and three son-in-laws, Elaine McCowan, Chattanooga, TN, Marcus (Pamela) Scruggs, Niota, TN, Robin (Joey) Smith, Athens, TN , Darlene Odom Scruggs, Aberdeen, MD, Callen (Lynette) Scruggs, Athens, TN,  Deborah (Curtis) Cox, Athens, TN, Lenoir (Garry) McCowan), Athens, TN, Seventeen Grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great grand child; one brother and sister in-law; Wendell (Margaret) Arnwine, one sister, Alice Arnwine Moore, and two sister-in-laws, Pauline Arnwine, and Jessie Arnwine.

Special Lifetime Friends: Zella Mae Smith, Jack Moore, and a myriad of others too numerous to list.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19, 2019 at 1:00 at the Woodward Ave Church of God, Athens, Tenn., with pastor Clifford Waters officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.. Interment will follow at Lanetown Cemetery. Services of loving memory entrusted to M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens, TN.
