Mike Smith

Michael Ray Smith age 65 of Sweetwater, TN died Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Michael prided himself on helping others. He was the Smith family mechanic. He was recently ordained to be a minister of the gospel. He was everyone’s local lawn care worker, and grill master. He graduated from high school and attended Tennessee Wesleyan University where he played basketball and ran track. He was a retired heavy machinery operator.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Lane Smith Sr. and Viola Smith, brother, William Lane Smith Jr., sisters, Elaine Smith, and Sandra Smith,

Survivors include his life partner, Amber Marie Greene of Sweetwater, TN. His children, Shampella Garcia, Michael Ray Smith Jr., Jarvaris Smith, Danielle Smith, RayShawn Smith, and Davion Smith. Grandchildren, Swahie(Sarah) Smith, Shaharazod Smith, Kenny Benton, Almazaney Garcia, Nia Smith, Takeya Smith, A’Micah Smith, Malia Smith, Raquan Weston, Devon Smith, Kimora Smith. Great-grandchildren, Nazya and Addyson Smith and Imani Brown. Step-children, Karlee Nesmith, Jaylon Greene and Jordan Greene. Brothers, Lionell Smith and Ronnie Smith both of Sweetwater, TN. Special niece, Jamie Smith, and a host of nieces, and nephews, along with special friends, John Williams, John Wilson, and Tay Peak.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Athens, TN, with Rev. Ed Cox officiating and minister Mae Hammonds delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sweetwater, TN.
