Michael Dickey

Michael Lee Dickey , 71, of Cleveland, TN, departed his earthly home and reunited with his wife, Margaret Eugenia Jones Dickey, in their heavenly home on August 2, 2019.

Michael was born June 29, 1948, in Etowah, TN, to the late Vernon Lee and Willie Mae Dickey.  Michael was the eldest of three children.  He was a 1966 graduated from J.L. Cook High School in Athens, TN.  Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force who served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America and the Forty and Eight.

Michael was a man of many words who never met a stranger.  He was loved and adored by all who grew to know him.  He delighted in spending time outside in his yard.  The stories and memories of his larger-than-life personality and clever sense of humor will be missed.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Michael was also preceded in death by his brother, James Benney Dickey.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Montazz Dickey and Deountray Dickey; grandchildren, Natori Bateman, Jayanna Bryant, Deounka' Dickey, Montasia Dickey, Malaysia Dickey, and Amerah Dickey; stepdaughter, Yolanda Campbell; stepson, Martin Cheatham; brother, Alvin Paul Dickey; nephew, Fati King; niece, Natasha Moore; mother-in-law, Adella Jones; "compadre", Tim Green; devoted caregiver, Patience Brown; two great nieces, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Home going services will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home with Tim Green delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 12:00 noon until 1:00 with recognition from Vietnam Veterans of America and the Forty and Eight. Interment will be at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, TN with military honors.
