Mary Ann Hall

Mary Ann Hall of Athens, TN passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the age of 72.

Mary was born to the parents of Lelon and Iris Salter on July 19, 1946 in Powhatan, Al. She grew up as the youngest of four and attended Kirkman Technical High School.  In the 1980’s, she married the love of her life, Alan Eugene Hall Sr. She worked approximately 30 years at a cigar factory in Tampa Fla with her dear friend Mary Tollison. Al passed away in 1999 after a battle with brain cancer. Mary moved to Tennessee in 2003 to care for her aunt, Doris Wheeling.

Mary had a ‘doggie daycare’ for many years. She adored and loved all the dogs she cared for; Sugar, Missy, Casper, Precious, Louise, Jasper, Molly and Evie.

Mary and Al were very active riding their Gold Wing motorcycle with family and friends. She was an avid Joe Nemechek, Nascar driver fan- an official member of his fan club and kept quite a log of his career!

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alan Eugene Hall Sr., her son, Mark Anthony Cooper, her parents, Lelon and Iris Salter, her brothers, Ronald Salter and Ernest Salter.

Mary is survived by her cousin, Deloyn ‘Dee’ McDonough and his wife Becky, her sister, Janie Oliver and her husband, Julian, her step-son Alan Eugene Hall Jr., and her step-daughter, Bobbie Joe Hall. Two nieces, two nephews, and seven step-grandchildren. Mary had the dearest and kindest neighbor, Bobby Pilkey that helped her very much. We would like to thank all the caregivers that helped Mary in her last few weeks

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home – Athens, TN.  Memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m.
