Lucian James William Martin, age 64, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2023. Lucian was born on February 20, 1958 to the late Roberta and Raymond Martin Sr.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ella Mae and West Davis, and Lassie and Lucian Martin, his brothers Raymond C. Martin Jr. and Wendell Gaines, his sisters Marcia Woods, uncles, Wadie Davis, and Edwin Davis, and aunt Sally Meredith and niece Yavonka N. Wood.
Lucian was a quiet person and stayed to himself. He had a love for music and maintained his record collection and loved to dance. He also was a published songwriter and technical writer, D.J. , and an architect engineer. He was famous for his portrayl of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his speech, “I Have A Dream”. He was a faithful giver to the Second Street Church of Christ. He attended College Hill School and was a 1976 graduate of Cleveland High School.
Lucian leaves to cherish his memories, five sisters, Jacqueline Sharp, Pecola(J.T.) Toney, Vanessa Martin, and Allison Martin all of Cleveland, TN., and Ramona (Clyde) Dowell of Richmond, Va. Five brothers, Thomas(Barbara) Davis of Jacksonville, Fla., Edwin, Dwight, Darryl(Connie) and Alphonso Martin all of Cleveland, TN. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Cleveland, TN., with Brother Ronald Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
