Loretta M. Cobb age 84 died Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at her home in Athens, TN. She graduated in 1955 from J L Cook High, where she participated in basketball and played at the state championship.
She devoted her life to the Lord at an early age and was a Mother of the church and active member of Light of Life Faith Ministries International (OFCC) for 38 years. Her professional career spanned cosmetology, child care, retail/office management and tax preparation.
She was born to the late Mary Lou Harris and Edward Mayfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter J. Cobb; her daughter Tracy Elaine Scruggs (Jeff); her brothers James E Harris “Jimmy”; Don Harris; sisters, Linda Harris and Virginia (Doll) Mayfield Stock.
A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she leaves to cherish her memory her son Gregory B. Mayfield of Athens, TN and daughters Ingrid Prather (Devin) Athens, TN, Celeste Cobb of Knoxville, TN and Carla Myers (Marcus) of Ooltewah, TN sister Carol McClendon of Athens, TN, sister in law Roxie Harris of Athens, TN; brothers Tony Harris (Ruth) of Newport, TN and Kevin Harris (Brenda) of Decatur, TN, Edward “ June” Mayfield of Cincinnati, OH, Charles Mooney of Springfield, OH, Wayne Stovall of Athens, TN and James Moss of Etowah, TN and Robert Mayfield of Cinncinati, OH.
Her Grandchildren: Felicia Sanders, Rico Mayfield (Angie), Grant Mayfield (Melissa), Brad Mayfield (Audrey), Corey Prather (Tiffany), Blake Cobb (Nicki), Ashley Wood (Kevin), Tyler Cobb, Ashlyn Prather, Addison Harris, Kris Harris, Caleb Scruggs, Brooke Mayfield, Gabby Myers and Kylie Myers.
Her Great Grandchildren: Dominque Holley (Luke), Jasmine Mayfield, Daxton Mayfield, Presleigh Mayfield, Maddox Mayfield, Amelia Mayfield, Bradley Mayfield, William Mayfield, Madison Wood, Bryson Wood, Rilee Young, Amyah Talley, Alaya Prather, Madden Cobb, Brielle Cobb and five great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and special prayer partners/mothers of the church: Mattie McCowan, Minnie Long, Zella Smith, Wanda Ferguson, Shirley Blair, Patsy Looney and Susan Wright.
Home Going Celebration Service will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Light of Life Faith Ministries International with pastor Dr. Harold McCowan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Interment will follow the service at McMinn Memory Gardens.
