Lonnie Jones Jr. peacefully passed on to be with the Lord on December 11, 2022. Mr. Jones was born on June 28 th , 1946 in Chattanooga, TN to Mr. Lonnie Chuck Jones and Mrs. Eunice Knox Jones. He was lovingly married to Judy Thompson Jones, his loving wife and best friend for over 53 years.

Lonnie graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1971. His professional career began with Xerox Corporation in 1971. In December 1973, Mr. Jones became an Insurance Agent for Allstate Insurance Company which led to an agency ownership in 2000. Mr. Jones was blessed with many accolades during his tenure with Allstate, which includes being Top-Performing Agency, winning multiple awards, and receiving many honors.

His service in the community extended to serving on the Board of the Knoxville Area Urban League and Knox County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Jones is also a proud member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity – Beta Theta Boule where their focus is blessing young people via scholarships for college. He also served as Vice-President of Dunbar School Restoration Committee, where he enjoyed fundraising for the foundation.

Lonnie was a member of Foster Chapel Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board and as an usher. Prior to his membership there, he was a faithful member of Riverview Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Serving in the capacity of a trustee. Mr. Jones’ spiritual foundation began at Macedonia Baptist Church, Philadelphia, TN under the loving leadership of Rev. Ralph J. Miller Sr.

Mr. Jones had an outspoken, energetic personality like no other and a sense of style that was admired by family, friends, and business associates near and far. Whatever situation he faced he knew that failure was not an option. He loved the Lord. His determination, open heart, and faith in God ruled every aspect of his life.

One thing that all who were blessed enough to know him knew that his heart was big. He was the first person always volunteering to help to improve the lives of those around him. He always made others strive to be the best version of themselves.

He is preceded in death by his paternal loving grandmother Crecy Jones, his only aunt Susan (Arthur) Jackson, his parents, and his brother Roy Jones.

Lonnie is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 53 years, Judy Thompson Jones; Sons, Christopher Leon (Raine) Jones of Gallatin, TN and Nicholas Weston ( Ciarra ) Jones. One Special grandson Weston Reed Jones, who brought so much joy into his life. Joyful grand dogs, Jimi Hendrix and Huey. Brother-in-law, Carl V. Thompson, sister-in-law Molly (Jimmy) Cannady, loving niece, Jimmie (Xavier) Jones of Atlanta, Ga, loyal nephew Roy Jones and his children. Cousins, Dr. Frances Reeves and son Joey of College Park, Ga, Stanley(Dorothy) Knox of Detroit, MI, Michela (Kenny) Lewis of Loudon, TN, Pamela (Robert) Wells of Rockwood, TN an d a very special goddaughter Valerae (Steven) Davis of SpringHill, TN.

Even though Lonnie never met a stronger, and his friends were many, his devoted and loving friends were Curtis and Felecia Jones, Charles Lee Hawkins, Rayfordean Bowers and         Frank Robinson.

Services will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022 at First United Church of Christ 1018 Morris St in Sweetwater, TN. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.. with services star t ing at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Anthony Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at Hackney Chapel Cemetery in Lenoir City, TN.
