She grew up in a loving home surrounded by her siblings; Chester (Marsenia), Jean (Paul), Jackie (Ray), Joey (Robin), and Stevie (Rita). The Smith family, a tight-knit group, enjoyed many happy times together while creating cherished memories. Darlene began her lifelong friendship with Helen (Sissy) McMahan at a very young age. Darlene was a pillar of her family and a dedicated caregiver to her parents (Chester T. & Eula Mae Smith) and beloved Aunt Helen Rucker (Puddin). Darlene loved and adored her nieces and nephews with whom she shared a special bond. As the pillar she planned countless family activities giving the opportunity to create innumerable memories that the family will cherish forever. She loved the family tradition of Christmas in the mountains.
