Lavon ‘Buddy’ Moore Jr. age 44 of Athens passed away Monday, March 21st at Starr Regional Medical Center. He attended McMinn County High School and received his G.E.D.
He is preceded in death by his father Robert Lavon Moore Sr., Uncles, Clarence “Eyes” Moore, and Avery “Mickey” Moore. Grandparents, Evelyn (Darryl) Linder, and Annabelle(Robert) Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Scruggs-Moore, three sons, Robert Scruggs, Taheim Scruggs both of Athens, TN., and Tabre’Abernathy of Knoxville, TN., one daughter, Nala Scruggs of Baltimore, MD., mother Ida Scruggs of Athens, TN. Three grandchildren, Trinity Wallace, Aaron Hall, and Chase Hall all of Baltimore, MD.Siblings, Victoria Moore of Athens, TN., Robert Moore, Courtney Abernathy of Nashville, TN., and Andrea Scruggs of Morristown, TN. Aunts, and uncles, Deborah(Garland) Johnson, Kim(Walter) Jones, Mary(Kenneth) Polk, Bernice(Javier) Gutierrez, Blanche Kibodeaux, Julia White, Nannette Porter(William Roy McBee), Julius(Shawntee) Porter, John Porter, Damon Porter and Alex Porter. Special friend, Joseph Rice. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, “B” Moore will be missed by all who knew and encountered him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Saunders officiating. Interment will follow at Hammonds Cemetery in Athens, TN.
In compliance with COVID-19, social distancing will be observed and face masks are required. There will be a walk-through visitation also on Saturday M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home- Athens, TN from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m
