Larry Stovall

February 11, 1949 — September 23, 2024

On September 23, 2024, Larry Leon Stovall, joined his twin brother, Jerry Lonzo Stovall, and other family members who have left this earth to continue watching and protecting those of us who remain. Larry, born in Etowah, TN on February 11, 1949 to Floyd Arthur and Willie Helen (Armstrong) Stovall, attended J. L. Cook and McMinn High Schools and was an avid basketball player. He served the military through the US Army during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged, but as a disabled veteran. He, diligently, worked to serve his family and friends throughout his years. He well-earned the titles as The Greatest Dad, The Greatest Papaw, The Greatest Uncle and The Best Friend. He, passionately, attended, supported and followed the events of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews to include chaperoning school field trips, coaching games from the sideline, and laughing extremely happily at their graduations and weddings. Larry loved and encouraged, unconditionally, his family, friends and all children who entered his gloriously, optimistic world.

Larry was preceded in his rise to heaven by his daughter, Keisha ; parents, brothers Jerry and Floyd Jr,; sister, Midge Jones; and his granddaughter Tyniya L’Angel Powell. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Faye Jarnigan Stovall; daughters, Melody Dawn Pickle, Adia Parker, and Tiffany Parker; godson, Kevin Lee Jackson; his grandchildren DaShauna Parker, Andre Johnson, Shahada Parker (Dejaha), Brianna Pickle, TaLeyah Gooden, and Janelle Parker; his great-grandsons, Alfonzo and AyZion Travis, and Sa’Mari, Sa’Mir, Sa’Fari and Sa’Yir Parker; great-granddaughter Lily Johnson; sister, Betty Stovall; devoted brother-in-law, Robert Rocky (Keisha) Rodgers; devoted nephews and nieces, Roderick (Frances) Jones, Mark (Daphne) Stovall, Cynthia (Joe) White, Misty (John) Cranfill, Bryana & Ezra Stovall, Derrick (Sonya) Jones, and Atazia Jones; devoted cousins, Clifford (Cowboy) Smith, Josita DeRamus and Kim Parris Deathridge; special friends, Robert Cobb and Lewis (Perky) Alston, and many more cherished family and friends.

Larry hosted many gatherings over the years. The family will rest his vessel, Saturday, October 5, 2024, 10:00 am at New Zion Cemetery, 821 Bryant Street, Etowah, TN. Service will be officiated by Reverend Benjamin Jackson, Mt Olive AME Zion Church of Etowah. Pastor Joseph Tolbert, Foster Chapel Baptist Church, will deliver the eulogy.

The Stovall and Jarnigan families express their sincere thanks for your numerous gifts of kindness and love.
