Juanita Jackson , 95, of Etowah, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 19, 2022.  She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Louella Cobb, husband, Raymond Jackson, Sr., brother, Walter Cobb, sisters, Nora Lee Williams and Daisy Cobb and son, Raymond Jackson, Jr.

A talented seamstress, she retired from GFM Manufacturing of Etowah in 1992.  A working mom before the term existed, she was a dedicated homemaker and beloved Mother of the community.  Affectionately known as “Mrs. Juanita”, she faithfully served generations of Parkstown residents by providing motherly advice, warm meals, and rides to anywhere the Chargers led her.  A lifelong member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church, she faithfully served her home church in many capacities including Deaconess, Usher, Class Leader, Missionary President and Kitchen Committee Volunteer Leader. A community organizer, she served on theEast-West Development Corporation Team which secured rehab and development projects for the community.

Juanita’s passing marks the end of a generation as she was oldest resident of the Parkstown Community and “Mother” of Mt. Olive.  She was the matriarch of 5 generations of Jacksons having raised 9 children, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. Her daughters are Annette Sharp, Vivian (Randy) Anderson, Sue Ellen Jackson, Teresa Jackson and Denise Jackson; and sons are; Joey (Trina), Gordon and Dennis (Kim) Jackson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Benny Jackson, a host of nieces and nephews and neighbors who came to be family.

Juanita’s rich and abundant life will be celebrated on Friday, December 23, 2022 at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church in Etowah, Tennessee. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM . Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, in Etowah, Tennessee immediately following the services.
