Josephine (Josie) Theresa Boyd Wheeler a resident of Athens, TN departed this life at the age of 72 on Sunday March 3, 2024. She was born and raised in New Orleans, La.
Josie lived a colorful life. She studied accounting early in life but found joy in service as a private duty aid to the young and young at heart. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, baking, cooking, puzzles, spoiling her grands and great grands to whom she left with beautiful memories.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Lee Eleby Boyd, George Lyman Jr. and Lewis France Boyd Sr., brother Lewis France Boyd Jr., sisters, Rosa Boyd Sutherland and Marian Boyd Williams.
She is survived by three children Jerrilyn Dabney- Johnson, Daryl Anthony Savoy Sr., Daniell Savoy (Charles), 13 loving grandchildren Megan, Duane Sr. Damon, Donavan, Dominic, Nicholas, Noah, Madison, Mason, Daryl Jr., Tiffany, Tasha and Daryl, granddaughters-in-law, Hannah, Kate, and Haevyn.Devoted great grandchildren Jeremiah, Jaylen, Janiya, Duane Jr., Jamir, Jacob, Aaliya, JaMicheal, Naomi, Chloe and Winter. One sister, Mozelle Boyd Johnson, and a loving companion Donnie Milsaps. Devoted nieces Christy, Tonya and Lauren, two nephews Brian, and Don Jr.(Tajia). A host of great nieces and nephews, host of family of Mobile,Al and New Orleans, La., with host of friends.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
