John Mooney

John S. (Johnny) Mooney, age 76 of Etowah, Tn died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, in a local hospital. John Mooney was born to the union of William Edward and Elsie Marie Mooney. He was a graduate of J. L. Cook high school. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was also a graduate of the Tennessee Technology Center with a Drafting and Design degree. He joined Harrell Chapel Church at an early age and became a trustee after his time serving in the army.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Ed and Elise Mooney, Daughter Andrea Mooney, and Brother Billy Mooney.

Left to cherish his memories his wife Anna Mooney, his daughters Patricia Mooney, Leticia, and Eddie Bryan all of Etowah Tn. Lisa and Greg Clark of Athens Tn. 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Sisters Linda Cates, Esther Scruggs of Etowah Tn. Brothers Rodney Mooney, Marvin, and Kaye Mooney of Etowah, Tn. Uncle and Aunt James and Betsy Wiley of Silverwood Michigan and A special niece Cynara Lowary, special cousin Chernell Simpson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Harwell Chapell Church in Etowah, TN with pastor Rev. Hobert Brabson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m., and Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Etowah, TN. with military honor guard.
