Jessie Roby age 88 passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 in a Sweetwater, TN health care facility.
He attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Athens, TN and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was employed for many years at Bowater Paper Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manual and Ginetor Roby and wives, Polly Roby and Vickie Roby.
Survivors include a very dear and faithful friend Betty Nesmith of Sweetwater, TN. Four children, Erwin Roby of Jackson, MS., Kathy Goode, Alex(Andrea)Goode, and Maurice (Kara) Goode all of Cleveland, TN. One brother, Roosevelt (Teresa) Roby, sisters, Dorothy Rae Roby, and Hattie(Willie) Hatley.
12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, Adarah and Damon Arnwine of Cleveland, TN. 2 Step-daughters, Verika Hatcher of Cleveland, TN., and Donna Smith of Nashville, TN., niece Nancy (Tony) Moore of Athens, TN., and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Athens, TN with Rev. Vant Hardaway delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Hammonds Cemetery in Athens, TN.
