Jessie L. Boyd

Jessie Lee Boyd age 89 a resident of Charleston, was born June 22, 1929 and departed this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at a local health care facility in Cleveland, TN.

She was a life time member of Mt. Eagle Baptist Church in Charleston, TN. She was involved in several ministries, such as the hospitality committee, usher board and missionary department. She was previously employed by Magic Chef, and housekeeper for several families in Cleveland, TN.

She is preceeded in death by daughter Brenda Morgan, parents Curtis and Ida Mae Arnold, her brother, Curtis Arnold, and three sisters, Frankie Massengill, Mary Ruth McCleary, and Delores Mack, and husband of  25 years Kenneth Boyd.

She is survived by her sons Clarence McCarver Jr. (Jocelyn), Bobby McCarver, Kenneth Boyd(Patti) and daughters, Debra Lattimore(Martin) and Sara Smith(Calvin). Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens, TN., with Rev. Aubrey Ector delivering the eulogy, and Rev. Edward Robinson Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m until 2:00 p.m.Interment will follow at Hammonds Cemetery in Athens, TN.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe and Alan Kirkpatrick, Ken Boyd, Garry Massengill Jr., Ashtin and David Lattimore. Flower bearers will be Alisha Lewis, Jessika McCarver, Whitley and Nicole Smith and Danessa Boyd.

The family would like to thank Life Care of Cleveland and Hearth Hospice for their kindness during mom’s illness.
