Hettie Louise Dickey

Mrs. Hettie Louise Walker Dickey, 88 was born February 18, 1936 in the Beth Salem Community near Athens, TN. She left for her heavenly home on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in Etowah, TN.

Hettie was the daughter of the Late George and Ida Walker. She was also stepdaughter of late Mr. Edward Mooney. Hettie and her sister Hattie were twins and were nicknamed “Biggie and Lil Hettie”. She was a 1955 graduate of J L Cook High School. She was a lifetime member of Star Bethel Baptist Church in Etowah, TN, where she served as secretary of the church and president of the missionary society. She was also an active member of the Loudon District Baptist Association. She was employed at Etowah Industries for several years before transferring to Athens Products and retiring in 2001. She loved exercising, sewing, gardening and canning. She loved her childhood church and home Beth Salem.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida Walker, step-father, Edward Mooney, Sr., husbands, John P Carter, and Floyd Dickey; her only son Theophilus Carter; brothers, Calvin, Hoover, Maynard; and Clayborne; sisters, Marie, Elizabeth, Clementine and Hattie

She leaves to cherish her memory: grandsons John Jaamil Carter and Diaz Benton, and granddaughter Aisha Dione Carter, great-grandchildren, Jayonna Carter, William Carter Jaynaja Bell, Kylan Lenoir, and Journee Carter, great-greatgrandchildren, Kali Carter, Jaleiah Goodman, and Carter Goodman, daughter-in-law Vivian Carter, special niece Norma Faulkner, many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and her church family.

Home going celebration services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Starr Bethel Baptist Church in Etowah, TN with Rev. Benjamin Jackson delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Greenhill Cemetery in Etowah, TN.
