Gladys Wells, age 89 of Sweetwater, Tennessee passed Monday, March 15, 2021 in a Sweetwater, TN hospital.
She was a graduate of Knoxville College and taught English in Kentucky schools, at High Point School in Sweetwater, Tn., and in Sweetwater public schools for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hurley Wells.
Survivors include a devoted daughter/cousin, Monica McGaughey(Glenn) Johnson of Athens, TN., and family members she considered as her children, Arnold Asbury, Karen Asbury, and Jason McGaughey.
Stepdaughter, Mary Lee Wilson of Knoxville, TN., and step-son Hurley Lewis Jr. of Madisonville, TN.
In observance of COVID-19 there will be a walk-through visitation on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home – Athens, Tn.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Sweetwater Memorial Park, Sweetwater, TN with Rev. Vant Hardaway officiating the committal service.
M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home will continue to be in compliance with COVID-19, mask are required at all times, and we will monitor for social distancing.
