Frederick Thomas McCleary age 90, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at his home in Charleston, TN. He was a faithful member of Watson Chapel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, TN., where he served as the pastor’s steward, and a steward of the church. He also worked in the church as a trustee, a member of the church, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Athens Regional choir. He was employed and retired from Bendix after 20 years there as a supervisor . He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his wife Beulah Lattimore McCleary, and his parents Herbert and Shelly Sherman McCleary, a great-granddaughter, Loyalty McCleary, and nine brothers and sisters, Vivian McCleary, Minnie Lee McCleary White, Ruth McCleary, Jean McCleary Phillips, Anna Lou McCleary Parris, James McCleary, Richard McCleary, Leonard McCleary, Cecil McCleary, and honorable mention son, William Stanley ‘Wootch’White.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted daughter Felicia Paige (Melvin) Graham, and son Roderick(Rhonda) McCleary. Four grandchildren, Koemesha McCleary (Stevaughn Goode), Tyenesha McCleary, Whitney Rutledge, and Derice Anthony.Three great-grandchildren, Messiah Ware, Dominic Good, and Serenity Good. Sister-in-law, Beatrice McCleary of Washington, DC, and brother Sherman McCleary of Charleston, TN., and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Home going celebration service will be held Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m at Watson Chapel A.M.E. Church , Market Street Charleston, TN., with pastor Rev. Joseph Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.,m, The family has requested that face mask be worn. Interment will be on Monday at 12:30 p.m at the Chattanoooga National Cemetery with military honor guard.
In compliance with COVID-19, social distancing will be observed and face mask are required. There will be a walk- through visitation one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
