Frances Durethia Williams was born on March 8, 1950 to the parents of Dupree and Helen Queener Williams in Knoxville, TN. She attended the public schools in Knox county and McMinn County where she graduated in 1968. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Knoxville College, Knoxville, Tn and her Master’s from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Frances taught kindergarten at Calhoun Elementary School for 34 years. She was a devoted member of St, Mark A.M.E. Zion Church where she served for many years on the Trustee Board, Steward Board, Usher Board, and Women’s Missionary. She also was a devoted and dedicated member of the Tau Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She was Chairman of the Athens Housing Board, an NAACP member,  a member of Women United in Athens, TN.,  a member of J.L Cook Reunion Committee, and a member of the Cook Civic Parks and Gardens.

Frances leaves to cherish her love and memories, sons, Patrick(Jennifer) Williams, Danny Williams both of Athens, TN. Sister, Patricia ( Beauford) Bell of Sparta, Georgia. Nephew, Beauford Dupree (Shanequa) Bell , of Sparta Ga.. Six grandchildren, one great-nephew, and a devoted friend Roxie Harris, her loving church family and a host of other relatives and friends.

Home going celebration will be Saturday, January  25, 2020 at 12:00 noon at St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church with pastor Rev. Roxianne Sherles officiating and delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at McMinn Memory Gardens. Visitation by friends will begin Friday, January 24, 2020 from 1:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home – Athens, Tn.
