Ellawees Griffith Nimley, age 84, passed Tuesday evening, September 26, 2023, at her home in Cleveland, TN.
She was a member of Unity Christian Ministries in Cleveland, TN. Ellawees worked for many years, caring first for her family, and working in the food-service industry for the United States Army.
She is preceded in death by: her parents - Jim Griffith, and Essie Mae Fleming; children – David Hayes Jr., Hope Johnson, and Yvette Ray; sisters - Callie Johnson, Katie Chestnut, Evelyn Griffith, and Martha Griffith; brothers - Robert Griffith and Richard (Evelyn) Griffith.
Survivors include her devoted husband of over 48 years, Isaac Nimley of Cleveland, TN; four children - April Hayes-Schmaltz (Albert); Johanna Nimley, Joy Nimley, and son Isaac N. Nimley; one sister - Sarah Knight of Syracuse, NY; son-in-law Tony Johnson; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends; special friends - John and Manel Porte, Gaynell Simpson, Emily Fields, Arthur Whrogboe, and Peel Williams.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Unity Christian Ministries (3873 Old Tasso Rd NE) Cleveland, TN with pastor, Rev. Aubrey Ector delivering the eulogy. Family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m at M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. Interment will be on Monday following the services at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
