Edna M. Simpson age 76 passed away on Monday June 19, 2017. She worked for many years at Thomas and Betts in Athens, Tennessee. She was a member of Voice of Deliverance Church where she served on the motherboard. She enjoyed cooking and sewing quilts. Her most loved job of all was being a full-time grandmother and a mother to her family and to many others in the community.

She is preceded in death by mother and father Robert and Clemmie McCowan. brothers James Lewis McCowan, William Houston, Timothy Clemmie, and Hubert McCowan, sisters, Eula Mae Smith, Willie Francis Latham, Judy Wells, and Clara Mae Simpson.

Survivors include, her husband of 57 years, William Simpson, daughters, Tammie Simpson, Lesa Witt(Shon), Sherry Smith, Sandy Espey(Eric), Felicia Johnson, Ronie Ware and Rashanae Arnwine . Sons, Tommy Lee Simpson(Gaynell) and William Edward Simpson (Lisa). Sisters Helen Rucker, Anna Shields, Earnest Oggs(Melvin), Pauline Mayotte(Jackie), Tabitha McDermott(David), and Chaytanna McDermott(Pete). Sister-in-law, Chiquita Simpson. Brothers, Robert McCowan Jr.(Mattie), Chester McCowan and Marland Simpson. Brothers-in-law- Jimmie Simpson, Jessie Roby(Vicky) and Richard Latham. A host grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. Best Friends, Cheryl Kareem, Wanda Ferguson, Bonnita Smith, Mary Smith, Patricia Green, Ray and Stephanie Davis, Bud Witt, Ralph Smith, Brother Brewster, Loretta Ferguson, Barbara Marbury,William and Sylvia Bailey.

Services will be Sunday June 25, 2017 at Greater Deliverance Church in Athens with the visitation from 2-3 p.m. and the funeral service to start immediately at 3 p.m. Pastor Larry Saunders will be officiating and eulogizing and the interment will follow at Moore’s Cemetry in Niota, Tennessee.
