Derrick Pugh

Derrick Pugh age 66 passed away suddenly at a hospital in Chattanooga Tennessee, on February 19, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother Verna Mae Pugh, father James Pugh, and brother Edgar Pugh.
He was a graduate of Cleveland High School, where he was an outstanding athlete, and had a great ability in baseball. He attended Fisk University, and he served his country in the marine reserve. Derrick played in the Negro Baseball League on a local Cleveland, TN team. Derrick was known and loved by many.
He leaves behind a son Derrick II, daughter-in-law Heather Pugh. Four grandchildren, Amayah Pugh, Derrick the 3rd, Jade, and Maylani Pugh, all reside in San Jose, California. Three sisters Joan Steward (David), and Emily Fields both of Cleveland Tennessee Jean Covington of Glendale Arizona.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 2:00 in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Cleveland, TN, with minister Jackie Westfield officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Fort Hill Cemetery.
