Derek Jamil Alston of Etowah, TN passed away on June 7, 2020 in a local hospital.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mary Ann Cox-Bradley and Charles ‘Coot’ Bradley, L.B. Alston Sr., Aileen Alston. Aunt, Janet Alston, nephew Tyler Alston and cousin, Brandon ‘ToneTone’Miller.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Zora Hammonds, and Makayla Morgan, sons, Isiah Jamil Alston, and Alexander Carter Alston. Parents, Lewis ‘Perky’ Alston Jr. and Sylvia J Alston. Brothers, Ryan L.(Kelly) Alston, and Jason L.( Merisha) Alston. Nephews, Jacoby (Janie) Alston, Jamir Alston, and Zachary Alston. Nieces, Alayna Alston, Paris Alston, Heavenlee Smith, and Jaycionna Alston. Aunts, Mary(Joe) Bradley, Keisha Bradley, Nancy Arnwine, Cynthia(Joe) White, uncles, Charles Eric Bradley, and Howard Cates. Special cousins, Marcus Alston, Carlos Alston, Ricardo Alston, Marcia Alston, Dion Miller, Misty Michelle, Devan Bradley, Deon Russell, Keenan Lattimore and a host of other cousins and friends. Special friends, Carlos Gillespie, Kenny Jackson, and Brad Mayfield, Chis Blair, Josh(Amber) Blair, and Keith Hamilton.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Harris officiating. The body will lie in state beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at New Zion Cemetery.
