Daniel ‘ Dan’ Cox age 75 passed Sunday, June 7, 2020 in a health care facility in Crossville, TN. He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County, TN where he loved hunting, fishing, outdoors, and being a free spirit. He was well known to many in the area as a general fix-it man and would volunteer his skills to many helping with home improvement projects. He was a member of Cox Chapel A.M.E. Church in Athens, TN., and a graduate of Cook High School. He also attended college and lack two semester of graduating. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served his country in the Vietnam Conflict, and was a member of the Etowah American Legion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Cox Sr. and Elizabeth Mae Brown Cox, his wife Beverly Florence Cox, son Nathaniel Ethan Cox. Sisters, Irene Cox, Emma Dickerson, and Virginia Pryor, brothers, Robert ‘Breat’ Cox Jr., Cottrell Brown, and William James Cox, aunt Amanda Brown and father and mother-in-law, Thomas L. “ Brother Tom” Florence and Shermine A.M. Florence.

Survivors include in his children, Daniel Gabriel Cox, Ira Justin Cox, and Amanda Elizabeth Shermine Cox. Two sisters, Rachel Robinson, and Helen Collier. Sister-in-law, Rebecca (Uwaifo) Osaigbovo, and brothers-in-law, Michael(Mary) Florence, Bill (Diane) Florence, Mathew Florence, and Timothy(Darlene) Florence. Many nieces, nephews, many cousins, and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be Sunday, June 14, 2020 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens, TN with Rev. Leuty McDermott officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Beth Salem Cemetery with military honors.
