Cordon Remee Abernathy Porter,40, of Athens, Tennessee entered into God’s kingdom on February 4, 2024. He was born on October 20,1983. He was a graduate of McMinn County High School. His unexpected death will have a profound impact on his family as well as those who grew to know and love him.
Cordon spent most of his adult life pursuing his passion for music, which was coupled with natural  ability  and talent. In addition to music, he also enjoyed sports, especially those involving his children.

Cordon is best known for his free spirit, quick-witted sense of humor, and his infectious laugh that had the ability to change the energy of an entire room instantly. To those who knew him best, he was  a “Giant Teddy Bear”  and a protector at the same time. He reserved a special place in his heart for the ones he loved and adored most. Some of his most fond childhood moments include time spent with his father Don Stone, all of his brothers as well as his close cousins Julius Micheal Porter and Shari Porter who were more like siblings to him.
Cordon was well loved by his aunt and uncles Julius Porter, John Porter, Mary White and Rebecca Porter.

He was preceded in death by grandmothers’ Evelyn Abernathy and Margret Stone. His grandfathers, Julius Marquette Porter and Jesse Lee Stone. Aunts Brooke White, Ida Scruggs and Ethel King, his cousins Jamey Martin and Buddy Moore.

Cordon, a loving father, son, and brother is survived by his parents, Nanette Porter and Don Stone, sister Tequila Porter, brothers Julius Michael Porter, Gabriel Porter, Jarrett and Jarrod Dunn, William Bailey, Derrick Dowell, and Romelious (Meek) Fair. Sons, Davion Evans, Jaylen Hunt, Keyshawn Robinson ,and Adonis Nichols. His daughters include Nia Watters and Layla Wilhite . Godparents Mama Sis and Daddy Rickey McMahan, stepfather Alfred E. (Pinky) Malone. A host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Athens, TN with minister Mae Hammonds delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Hammonds Cemetery in Athens, TN.
