Deacon Christopher “Chris” Hugh Taylor , 61, of Cleveland, TN, departed his earthly home on Friday, August 13, 2021. Chris was born February 27, 1960, Cleveland, TN, to Helen Loretta Hudgins Taylor and the late Wilbur James Taylor, Sr. He a was the fourth of twelve children.  He was a graduate of Cleveland High School class of 1978.  Chris was a devoted deacon of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN, for over 35 years.

Chris was an outspoken man with an infectious smile that would light up a room.  He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionally referred to him as “Pop-Pop.” He was a proud grandfather who took pride in supporting his grandsons in their athletics.  Chris was a proud Christian who delighted in reading his bible and being the “prayer warrior” for all of his family.  When he wasn’t hanging with his mom, fishing, or praying, he could be found at home in his recliner watching WWE or old western movies.

In addition to his father, Chris was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Thelmer and Louise Finley; brothers, Wilbur James Taylor, Jr., James “Jibb” Taylor, Corey Taylor, and Ray Taylor; and son-in-law, Marco Collins.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving, devoted wife Martina Taylor; his children Natasha Blair, Alanna Collins, and Rafael (Jasmin) Taylor; step-children, Robert and  Rebecca Trammell; his loving mother, Helen Bowerman; his siblings, Andy (Natacha) Hudgins, Phyllis (Ervin) Hickey, Reagon (Nicole) Hudgins, Roy (Gabriella) Taylor, Ramona Brown, Monona Brown, Hiawatha Brown and Tracey Taylor-Smith; his grandchildren, Keniya Blair, TyKorrian Blair, Ramireon Taylor, Azarion, Armani and Mahogany Collins, Ariane Taylor, Kaiden Comer, and Zion Lykes; godmother, Audrey Bayless; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Inman and East Street Cleveland, TN with pastor, Rev. Edward S. Robinson, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be a walk-through visitation on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home,
