Chequita Simpson

Chequita Simpson age 79 went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 22, 2019 at a health care facility in Rockwood, TN. She was a faithful member of Burkett Chapel United Methodist Church in Decatur, TN. She retired from Thomas & Betts in Athens, TN. after 38 years of service. She volunteered at the Bradley County Senior Activity Center for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents Hubert Bowerman and Anna Mae Cobb, son, Wendell Simpson, and the father of her children Jake Morris, sisters, Linda Cobb and Emily Lewis and a brother Hubert Anderson Bowerman.

Survivors include son, Hubert (Deborah) Simpson of Blount County, TN., daughter, Wanda (Cecil) Thompson of Cleveland, TN. Grandchildren, Aaron Stone of Boston, Ma., Cecil Thompson Jr., of Cleveland, TN., Tiffany Simpson of Knoxville, TN., Jake (Cassidy) Jolley of Knoxville, TN., and Ocha Duncan of Blount County, TN. Great-grandchildren, Asher Thompson and Calvin Jolley. Sister, Juanita Scott of Decatur, TN., brother-in-laws, Billy Simpson and Jimbo Simpson of Athens, TN. A special aunt Isabell Bazzell of Cleveland, TN., and a special friend Patricia Fowler of Kansas City, Mo. Godson Justin Arnwine. Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A special thank you to Signature Healthcare of Rockwood and UT Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN., with Rev. Rodney Dunn delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00. Internment will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery in Decatur, TN.
