Charles Clayton, Jr.

Charles Clayton Jr., 83, of Athens TN went home to be with his Lord on December 30, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family. Charles was born on January 1, 1940, proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Elnora Clayton.
He retired successfully from TVA after 40 years as a Line Construction Foreman and was an avid golfer and lifelong New York Yankees fan. He loved spending time with his family, working in his garden, and giving the first fruits of his harvest to others. He was a faithful member of Boyd Memorial Church of God and loved telling everyone about his precious Jesus.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois A. Clayton, daughters Mylinda Overturf, and Rhonda (John) Friant, sister, Darlene (Mike)Phillips, and brother, Mickey Clayton. Grandchildren, CV(Ashley) Overturf, Kyla Long, Jonathan and Savannah Friant, great-grandchildren Anniston and Aiden, several nieces, nephews, and many other beloved family members.
Visitation will be held at Boyd Memorial Church of God on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. with funeral services at 3 p.m. Brothers Steve Croft, Floyd Duncan, and Brother Jeff Evans officiating. He will be laid to rest at Hammonds Cemetery.
