Charlene Howie Bacon Snell

Charlene Howie Bacon Snell age 90 passed Monday, December 21, 2020 in a local Cleveland health care facility.  She was a 1948 graduate of College Hill High School in Cleveland, TN., and was brought up in the Christian fellowship of Price Memorial United Methodist Church in Cleveland, TN.

She served her country in the United States Army as a private first class, Women’s Corps Regular Army. She was a devoted career military wife to her husband Lawrence Richard Snell, who was a staff sergeant and later retired himself from the US Army. Charlene was known for her quick wit, character, and straight forwardness.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Bacon Sr. and Grover Gladys Howie Bacon, her husband Lawrence Richard Snell, brothers, John Henry Bacon Jr.. George Bacon, William T. Bacon, James Bacon, sister, Josephine Billingsley and niece Deborah Blair.

Survivors include one sister, Pauline Smith of Cleveland, TN., a host of nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews, many cousins and friends.

In observance of safety and awareness of Covid-19 there will be a walk through visitation in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 noon.

Grave side services will be following at 1:00 p.m at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.  Services of loving memory entrusted to M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home – Cleveland, TN.
