Carla Whaley

Carla Denise "Nesia" Whaley, aged 72, passed away on August 24, 2024, in Ooltewah, TN. Born on July 6, 1952, in Cleveland, TN, she was a cherished member of her community and a beloved figure in her family.

Carla's lifelong dedication to nurturing relationships was evident in her professional life as well. She spent several years at Catnapper before dedicating 15 years to Life Bridges Inc., where she worked with individuals with special needs, a role she found immensely fulfilling. Carla's compassion and empathy made a significant impact on those around her.

A devout member of St. James CPCA, Carla expressed her faith through song as a member of the church choir, bringing joy and upliftment to many. Her hobbies included cooking, shopping, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She was especially fond of her granddaughters, each of whom had a special name for her, reflecting the unique and loving bond she shared with them.

Carla graduated from Cleveland High School, having attended College Hill for her primary education. Her academic and social contributions during her school years were the foundation of many lifelong friendships and her community engagement.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Whaley-Adamson of Nashville, TN; son, Andre Whaley of Detroit, MI; siblings Bowry Johnson, Teresa Whaley, Carol Minor, Tina Johnson, Karen Christian, Kerwin Whaley, Derwin Whaley, Roderick Scott, Elliot Higginbotham, and Bruce Whaley; and granddaughters Brittany Colson, Destiny Whaley, Lauren Adamson, and Faith Roberts. Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Carl T. and Barbara Lee Whaley; her son, Desumond Arquette Whaley; and her sister, Janet Lee Whaley.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Wildwood Church of God Prophesy, 140 Wildwood Avenue, Cleveland, TN 37311, where services will commence at 1:00 PM the same day. M D Dotson & Sons Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Carla "Nesia" Whaley will be remembered for her warmth, her generous spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her family and those she served throughout her life. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who knew her.
