Alex Paul Jackson, age 62, native of Sweetwater, went home to rest in the presence of the
Almighty God on Friday, July 26, 2019. He was born August 7, 1956 to the late Alex Jackson
and Pauline Gaines Jackson in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Alex resided in Sweetwater where he graduated from Sweetwater High School and later attended
Hiwassee College in Madisonville, TN. He was employed at Charsima Chairs in Sweetwater for
many years. Alex professed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Bethe Baptist Church, where
he served on the usher board and used his gifted voice to sing in the choir.
Upon Alex moving to Knox County due to his health needs, he continued to work and volunteer
his time to the area Good Will Surplus Stores and local community centers. He attended the
Universal Church of Deliverance in Knoxville, TN., and was faithful in attendance and in the
ministry under Bishop Allan and Pastor Cynthia Butler. Alex loved God and God’s people, and
he showed that love by speaking boldly of the goodness of the Lord and through his actions of
faith, many were led to Christ. His disabilities did not overshadow his belief in God, nor did it
silence his voice. He truly was a Sermon in Shoes. Alex was preceded in death by his father, Alex Jackson;                                                      Sister, Theresa Manya Jackson; Brother, Clarence Althonia “Buggy” Jackson.
