Aderon L. Billingsley Sr.

Aderon L. Billingsley, Sr. age 86 of Etowah, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents: Noll Thomas Billingsley and Flossie M. Jones Billingsley; and sisters, Mayetta Wells, Mattie B. Hughley, and Thala Billingsley.

He professed his faith in Christ at the age of 14 at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Sweetwater, TN. He continued to serve the Lord throughout his life at his wife’s side as she pastored throughout the A.M.E. Zion Church. He was a faithful member of the Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church Male Chorus in Etowah, TN. He was a graduate of High Point High School in Sweetwater, TN, and he was employed at Bowater Paper Corp. in Calhoun, TN for 41 years.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Rev. Angela Billingsley of Etowah, TN; sons, Thomas L. (Kathy) Billingsley of Madisonville, TN, Dennis (Arlene) Billingsley of Sweetwater, TN, James (Taleitha) Billingsley of Etowah, TN, Rev. Charles (Nanette) Billingsley of Chattanooga, TN, and Rev. Aderon L. (Idelia) Billingsley, Jr. of Knoxville, TN; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Imogene Wilkerson, Cleo (John) Davis, and Shirley Blair all of Sweetwater, TN; brother-in-law, Alvin Armstrong of Etowah, TN; and sisters-in-law, Charlene Townsend and Priscilla Armstrong both of Albany, GA.   A host of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home - Athens, TN with Rev. Aderon L. Billingsley, Jr. delivering the eulogy and Rev. Charles Billingsley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Sweetwater Memorial Gardens.
