Mary Frances Walker

Mary Frances Johnson Walker, age 76, passed away on March 16, 2017 at home in Knoxville, TN. She was born to the late William Witt & Mary Catherine Johnson on July 25, 1940 in Athens, TN. She was a graduate of Cook High School in Athens, TN and retiree from Thomas & Betts where she worked for over 30 years. She was the mother of one son, the late Joe Avery Johnson, whom she loved very much.
Mary Frances was a very independent woman that was beloved by many…had a beautiful smile…out-going personality…and never met a stranger. During her life, she was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed caring for the elderly & collecting black dolls & figurines. She also loved a good recipe and had quiet the collection of cookbooks. She will be sadly missed by many.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents, William Witt & Mary Catherine Glass, son, Joe Avery Johnson, brother, Richard Witt, nephew, Bruce Witt, and niece Frances Witt
She leaves to cherish her memories, grandson, and great-granddaughter,

Dennis (Judy) Ferguson of Athens, TN and Rhea Scruggs of Springfield, MA,
Uncle, Burkett Witt of Athens, TN, nieces, Sherri Farmer of Knoxville, TN,
Julia White and Denise Jordan of Athens, TN, nephews, Keith Ferguson of Athens, TN, Dannis (Keyona) Ferguson of Sweetwater, TN, Richard Witt of Knoxville, TN, and devoted cousin Toye Collier of Athens, TN. Special friends and extended family, Claritza Ortiz of Springfield, MA, Mary Lee of Santa Monica, CA, the Johnson, Witt, McDermott, Anderson, and Long families. A host of other relatives & friends.
Services of loving memory will be Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens with Rev. Larry Saunders officiating and Rev. Leuty McDermott delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 1:00 pm. to 2:00 pm with the internment at Hammonds Cemetery.
