Carol Sue Scruggs age 50 passed away suddenly at her residence Thursday March 16, 2017 in Athens, TN. She was the daughter of the late Robert L. Scruggs and Charlene Armstrong Scruggs. She was preceded in death by one infant brother Robert A. Scruggs and infant sister Maryann Scruggs, paternal grandparents Ross C. Scruggs and Sallie M. Neil Scruggs, maternal grandparents Charlie and Donnie M. Simpson Armstrong. Uncles, Charles O. Scruggs, William R. Scruggs, James E.Scruggs, Kenneth R. Scruggs, Raymond O. Scruggs, aunts, Ann Boyd and Elizabeth Moss.
Carol was a member of Greater Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church of Athens, TN. She was a graduate of McMinn County High School, the class of 1985. She was employed by McDonald’s of Athens.
Carol will be remembered by her family & friends as having a great sense of humor. She loved to laugh and joke, and was a dedicated worker.
Carol left to cherish her memory daughter Whitney D. Scruggs of Athens, Tn. Two sisters, Sarah L (Craig) Johnson, Deborah D. (LaVon) Scruggs. One niece Nala N. Scruggs of Baltimore, M.D. Great-niece Trinity Wallace. Three nephews, Julius S. Fletcher, Robert T. Scruggs and Tyheim Scruggs all of Athens, TN. Aunts, Betty A. Scruggs, Alice Mae Scruggs of Sweetwater, TN., Louise Scruggs, and Marylyn Smith both of Athens, TN., Virginia Wynn of Knoxville, TN. Ora Scruggs of Niota, TN., Mary Douglas, Rosa Colbert, Christine Lowery, and Louise Carden all of Etowah, TN.
Three uncles, Rev. Caggie Scruggs of Athens, TN., Joseph(Rosa) Armstrong and Bill Moss of Etowah, TN. Special friend Frederick Bailey. Special cousin, Mary Frances Williams, and a host of cousins, friends and family.
Services of loving memory will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens with Rev. Kenneth Scaife delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. with Interment at Hammonds cemetery.
