Carrie Brown

Carrie Frances Brown age 80 of Athens, TN. passed away on February 12, 2017 at her residence. She was a vital member of Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she served as secretary of finance for more than forty years. She was active on the kitchen committee and pastor’s aide committee and she was a member of the choir. She was a graduate of J.L. Cook High School in Athens, TN. Carrie was a caring and loving mother who loved shopping, sewing and ironing. She retired from Davidson Textron and Athens Dry Cleaners, where many knew her.

She is preceded in death by her mother Katie Mae Long, and sister Mildred Mae Long.

Survivors include her husband of fifty years Harrison Brown Sr., and children, Harrison Brown Jr., Deborah A. Brown(Kendall), and Judith Williams all of Athens, TN. Four grandsons, Le’brent Brown, Eric Brown, Noble Williams, and Dace Brown. One granddaughter, Bryanna Brown. Three great-grandchildren, Jasmine Brown, Kaemon Brown, and  Kenndel Brown. Sisters-in-law, Florene Doizer(Earl) of Cleveland, Ohio, Virginia Brown of Phoenix Arizona, Margaret Winston of Los Angeles, Calif., Dee Roby of Houston, Texas and one brother-in-law, Thomas Brown (Retha) of Cleveland, Ohio. A very special friend, Shirley Massengale, nieces and nephews, Emily Henry, Angela Wilkerson and Tony Long, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Athens, TN with Rev. Kenneth Scaife delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
