Joe Frank Cox age 75 went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2017. Born in Scottsboro, Ala, he was the son of the late Calvin and Emma Ruth Cox. He graduated from high school in Scottsboro and was employed at McDonald Carbine in Los Angeles, California for over 25 years, then move to Cleveland, Tn, where retired from Newlywed Foods.
Joe attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church while living in Cleveland, Tn. He loved baseball and spent over 15 years as an umpire in the Los Angeles san Gabriel Valley recreational league. Joe cherished his grandchildren. He took advantage of every moment he got to spend time with them. He was best known for his humor and generosity. Joe never met a stranger. He was a caring and loving man, who cherished his family even more.
He is preceded in death by his ex-wife Zoe Ann Goodine-Cox, as well as his sister, Pauline Cox of Scottsboro, Ala, and brother Chester Cox of Los Angeles, Calif.
Joe leaves behind one child, Lebron Dominique and wife Jennifer Goodine-Cox, along with three grandchildren, Kaylyn Ann Cox, Kendrick Dominique Cox, and Satchel Ronald Lamb all of Cleveland, Tn. Joe also leaves behind a nephew, Charles Coffee of Cleveland, TN., and one brother, Larry Cox of Los Angeles, California, and sister Janie Cox Proeenes of Scottsboro, Ala. Cousins, Gene (Charlita)Cox of Cleveland and Junior Cox of Knoxville, TN and a niece Audrey Proeenes of Scottsboro, Ala.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 12:45 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Cleveland, TN. Graveside services will be follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, Tn. with Rev. Martha Tibbs officiating.
